Kilwa

The King of Shiraz in Persian set up a town on the coast of Tanzania 1000 years ago at a place called Kilwa Kisiwani . There is enough written about it so read the link and search. It is on my bucket list to visit. They made lime out of coral and made domes and vaults.

I believe these are from around 1500AD. Some of the roofs are intact.
